September 30 Minutes in the Life ~ Warrenton, Virginia Photographer

It's officially Fall here in my little part of the world. The mornings are really cool, but the afternoons are just beautiful. We have been on the go so much these last few weeks, so on our free night we were so happy to come home and just go out to play for a while.  My favorite part of this project is taking time to capture our every day.  I want my children to have these memories of the fun we have in the every day.  In our back yard we have a small little community playground.  The kids love playing on the merry go round and the monkey bars. I initially just figured I get shots of them playing, which I did, but then I had a Mommy moment. You know those moments when you see this small part of yourself and your own childhood through your children. Well that happened on this night.  My daughter is really starting to get in to music. I am a huge music lover too. I honestly don't think I could live with out it. It's so good for the soul. So I upgraded my iphone last weekend and she took my old one to use for music.  She downloaded some songs that she really likes, and was playing the music while we were outside.  Nothing out of the ordinary, but then she started singing her little heart out while she was playing.  I just melted.  I love hearing her sing. She reminded me so much of myself and how when I was young. So before I ramble on forever, here's a peek into our 30 minutes on the playground enjoying our evening.   Please be sure to follow along the circle and check out, Julia Cooke From A Rock and a Soft Place.  Her post is sure to be awesome!

5 Minutes with Spiderman Warrenton, Virginia Children's Photographer

Last week we watched the Spiderman 2 movie. Ever since Conor has been all about Spiderman. If you have followed along our journey throughout the last year, you will know this kid loves Super heroes. So while we were out running errands yesterday we stopped at Conor's favorite store... Walmart.  He was asking all day for a new Spiderman shirt.  As soon as we got in the door they were offering free Spiderman cupcakes to the kids.  Conor was so excited. They had displays of Spiderman costumes for Halloween, so guess what ended up in the cart right away. I should tell you, he loves dressing up in his costumes, capes, and masks. I know some people think I'm crazy for letting him go out in public all dressed up, but you know what, he is 3 with a wonderful imagination. If he wants to think he is a Superhero, then why not let him?  Childhood is so very short, and as I have learned with my older children, this will pass. It will pass quickly, and I will be wishing for these days of super heroes, and costumes. Will he be Spiderman for Halloween? Possibly, but for now he is Spiderman today. He had the costume half on before we could get out of the parking lot. We went out for ice-cream and he wanted to go as Spiderman. Did people look at him? Yes, they did. But with so many smiles and hi-fives!   So this morning we woke up early and first thing he wanted to do was put on the costume.  So I asked him if I could take some photos in his costume. He gave me 5 minutes, but these 5 minutes I will cherish. They are him today, excited and full of life having fun being a little boy the way he should.

So here's 5 minutes with Spiderman... aka Conor.

Reclaiming my passion...

Over the last month or more I have been in a major rut. I have felt uninspired and so busy to even want to create anything. Then I got sick and really didn't feel like shooting. Over the last week I've realized summer is ending and I missed out on capturing our last month of summer. I'm a little disappointed in myself for not sticking to what I started.  So now that I am beginning to feel better, I really want to pick up where I left off. Photographing our life, our every day. The beautiful, chaotic, messy, full of love, life that we have.
So tonight I already had dinner made in the crock pot. We rushed home, finished up homework and ran outside to play. (And take photos, my kind of play)  So here's a part of our evening completely shot for me. Not every shot is technically perfect and I always come back to the black and whites. I love the emotion and feeling each one gives.

Until next time... xo
